Stress Relief - 3 Top Reasons Why Drinking Water Reduces Stress in Your Body and in Your Mind

Most people continually stay dehydrated by consuming too little water and too many caffeinated and alcoholic beverages that actually rob the body of water. Some people say they do not like the taste of plain water. A few people have never really made a habit of drinking water as a young person and as they got older could not start the water drinking routine. They were too used to drinking a soft drink or flavored water to adapt to the idea drinking plain bottled water.

Here are reasons to change all that.

First: After oxygen, water is the most vital nutrient for your life.

Water plays a role in almost every major body function including regulating body temperature, carrying nutrients to cells, removing waste and toxins, cushioning joints, protecting organs and tissues.

Add stress, which further increases the need for water, the lack of which contributes to even more stress, and you have a major health problem brewing.

Dehydration also causes fatigue, confusion, forgetfulness, and rapid breathing. These health and mental problems can be reduced by a consistent effort to drink more water.

Second: Most people on average should drink about eight 8oz servings of water per day. This can be accomplished by drinking a glass upon waking up in the morning, and another with breakfast. Have a glass mid morning and one with lunch. Try another glass mid afternoon and another at dinner and two glasses in the evening.

This sounds like a lot, but it is less than the 2 ½ quarts we lose daily under normal circumstances, much less during stressful ones.

Third: You can also get your intake of water in fresh vegetables and salads, as well as a variety of fresh fruits. You see getting your daily intake of water is quite easy and tasty too.

No, wonder we always feel like wilted geraniums and look like a gecko, with dry itchy skin! You can put lotions and oils on your skin to appear to look hydrated but you are still dry on the inside. If you find that this regiment of eight glasses of water a day seems a bit difficult to swallow, start slow with four glasses a day and gradually progress to eight. Keeping a glass of water at your side at your desk or in your car as you drive will help you to drink more. Getting into this great nurturing habit will help you stay hydrated and stay healthy.
